Now with our Bible opened to Matthew 4, I want to talk to you today about the life-change Jesus gives. This week in preparation for this message, I googled up these two words: Life Change. It didn’t take me long before I discovered the life change substitute the world offers compared to the real life change Jesus provides.

Here’s a sample what I found on Google:

*Making Lifestyle Changes that Last.

*How to Change your Life in One Year.

*Ten Ways to Change Your Life.

*22 Microhabits that will completely change your life.

*How to Start a New Life.

*Change Your Life Today.

And if none of those ring your bell, I found a quote on life change from Madonna: ‘‘No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always change, become a better version of yourself.’’ You can become a better version of yourself I suppose, but a better version of yourself without God just leaves you stuck in a bigger rut!

So much of the life-change we read about in the bible took place around one of my favorite places on earth: The Majestic Sea of Galilee!

It’s from this location we could talk about the healing of Peter’s Mother-in-Law who lived in Capernaum, a large community located on the Northern shores of the Sea of Galilee. Or we could head a little west along the shoreline where Jesus delivered his sermon on the mount, or we could walk a little further down the shore to the town of Magdala and talk about how Jesus radically changed the life of a woman there name Mary by forgiving her of all her sin.

We could talk about how Jesus came walking on the water and how Peter walked there as well, just not as long! We could talk about Jesus calming the storm, directing the fisherman to cast their nets on the other side for a catch. We could talk about the resurrected Jesus restoring ...
