JESUS: Our Good, Great, Chief Shepherd
When I was 18 years old, I graduated High School, and my parents gifted me a trip to Israel for graduation. They didn’t send me to Cancun with my friends. They didn’t send me to Disney Land... Instead, they said, this boy needs to walk where Jesus walked... and they brought me to the Holy Land.
To be honest, I wasn’t that excited about the trip when they initially told me about it... and I wasn’t even very interested in going at the time.
But now, looking back, I can honestly say this was by far, the greatest gift they’ve ever given me. And I say that because... on that trip, the Bible came to life in my heart. I went from reading the Bible in 2-D... to now experiencing the Bible in 4-D... and now, I’m 42 years old and I still haven’t gotten over what God did in my life in those 9 days.
That first trip to the Holy Land revolutionized my life and my walk with Jesus in a powerful way... and because of that, one of my favorite things to do now... is to bring people back to the Holy Land with me, so they too can experience what I experienced 24 years ago. TRIP INFO
I wish every Christ follower could go just once... but I also understand the reality, that most believers will never go. So, on my last tour, I had an idea pop into my mind. I thought, ‘‘If the majority of believers will never leave home and go to the Holy Land... then why don’t we just bring the Holy Land back home?’’
So, over the next several weeks, that’s exactly what I’m going to attempt to do. Now, obviously, you can’t get the full experience through a screen, but I hope these visuals will give you some context, as we read God’s word, on location, in the places where they happened.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be on location in places like... the Sea of Galilee where the first disciples were called... then we’ll head to the northern shore, to the city of Capernaum ...
