Good morning. Please turn with me to Hebrews 2:1 as we read one verse of scripture today. (Pray with me) They say, ''Dynamite comes in small packages.'' This one verse of scripture is the poster child of this saying. If we grasp the meaning found in this verse, it can save someone from disaster. See the context.

The CSB says, ''For this reason'', your translation may say, ''therefore'', or ''because of this'', or even ''so''. This mean the first verse is pointing back to something else. What is that? Chapter 1. That chapter reminds us that Jesus is the answer for everything. He is the answer for life, death, heaven, hell, and for every need there is. There is an old song that says, ''When answers aren't enough, there is Jesus.'' We read that Jesus is above the angels, is eternal, and is the answer for salvation. That is for life here and now as well as then and there. Jesus.

''for this reason,'' therefore, so because of this, and - we (the born again, life-changed, redeemed children of God), must pay attention (everyday life, every decision, priority, everything), to what we have heard (don't forget, those days they had no large supply of the written word, so it was about the spoken word. They heard it, they had to listen to it and remember it so they could live it.) And why was this important? ''So that we will not 'drift away'. Out of 10 translations I read, only one renders the word other than drift and it uses 'slip'. The direction is 'away.'. The Greek text gives it this way. ''We ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard lest at any time we DRIFT.''
