Introduction So I have two dog: a golden retriever and a husky. Both of those are pretty good-sized dogs and they kind of need space to run around in, but because of the lot we live on, our HOA won’t let us put up a fence. So every now and then, we take our dogs to a dog park where we can take them off the leash and let them run around. And they love it. Life is just better unleashed. Which is kind of the idea behind this sermon series we’re in, right? Life is just better unleashed, but sometimes, as followers of Jesus, we end up putting ourselves on a short leash and when we do that, a lot of opportunities for God to work in us and through us...a lot of opportunities for us to live on-mission with Jesus...are just out of our reach. So what we’re talking about in this series is getting off those short leashes we sometimes put ourselves on and starting to follow Jesus unleashed. The last time I was at the dog park, I watched this woman walk up to the gate with one of those little foo-foo dogs. Like it couldn’t have weighed more than like 8 ozs, you know? But it was like 80 lbs of attitude in an 8oz bag, ok? It was yipping and yanking on the leash and snarling like it was really mad. Like you could tell it thought it was all kinds of fierce. But as soon as they got through the gate and the woman was about to take it off the leash, a big pack of dogs that were all playing together came racing by. And these were all real dogs, ok? Like, full-size, real dogs. This little foo-foo dog wouldn’t have even made a good appetizer for most of these dogs. And they came racing by right as this woman let her little foo-foo dog off the leash and it looked at this pack of dogs and you could see the attitude drain right out of it. It shut up and, even though it was totally off the leash, it got in real close to its owner and it never moved from her side the whole time they were in the park. And I get it...it was a ...
