Introduction We’re in the midst of a series here called Boot Camp. We’re talking about how to move our faith forward because we know that the more progress we make in our faith, the more of a difference we make in the world. And today I want to talk to you about finding your part in God’s purpose. And specifically, I want to talk to you about finding your part in God’s purpose for this thing we call the Church. But before we do that, I want to ask you a question: Do you know that God has a purpose for your life? I recently heard one of my good friends, Chad Moore, say that There are accidental parents, but there are no accidental children.’’ - Chad Moore (Sun Valley Community Church). Because the Bible says that God created you. Regardless of the circumstances of your birth, you exist because God created you on purpose and with purpose. God has a purpose for your life. Now, at the foundational level, we all have the same purpose...we were all created as God’s image which means that we were made to represent God and extend his influence throughout creation. We all share that purpose. But we weren’t all made to do it the same way. We weren’t all made to play the same part in that purpose. So one of the most important things we have to do in life is we have to find our part in God’s purpose. And that’s what I want to talk to you about today: finding your part in God’s purpose. Sometimes, in Christian circles, we talk about our part in God’s purpose as our calling. And let me be honest with you: I think we’ve overcomplicated it or even over-spiritualized it. About 20 years ago I went through something called ordination, which means that I was examined by a group of older pastors so they could decide if I was qualified to be a pastor. And I remember sitting in front of 13 or 14 men who grilled me about my theology and my doctrine for a couple of hours. And at on ...
