Introduction Well, we are wrapping up our Boot Camp series today. For the past few weeks, we’ve been talking about moving our faith forward, because we know that the more progress with make in our faith, the more of a difference we make in the world. And today I want to talk to you about moving your faith - and you life - forward by living generously. Generosity is not something I’ve always been particularly good at, but I’ve come to believe that generosity is what we call a keystone habit. Do you know what a keystone habit is? A keystone habit is something we do regularly that leads automatically to other habits. Like, did you know that making your bed is a keystone habit? Because when you make your bed, you’re telling yourself, ‘‘I’m a disciplined person’’. And just the small habit of making your bed first thing in the morning makes you significantly more likely to eat healthier and to exercise. That’s what a keystone habit is: it’s something you do regularly that leads automatically to other habits. And living generously is a powerful keystone habit, and that’s true for everyone, whether you’re a follower of Jesus or not, but it’s especially for followers of Jesus who want to live on mission with him, because Living generously is foundational for living missionally. If we want to live on mission with Jesus, living generously is an important place to start. It’s a keystone habit. But like I said, living generously hasn’t always been a habit for me. For me, and maybe for you, living generously doesn’t come naturally. It’s something we have to work at. It’s still something I’m working on. See, I’ve noticed that anything I want to buy for myself ‘‘isn’t that expensive’’ but anything Coletta wants to buy ‘‘sure seems like a lot of money.’’ That’s pretty good evidence that I still have some room for improvement when it comes to living generously.
