This Is Not The End

John 20:11-18
Intro/Attention
*I don't know if you have been swept up in the worldwide phenomenon that's called, The Marvel Universe, but it's kind of a big deal. It's been gaining popularity in recent years that's for sure. If you don't know what it is, here's a quick explanation. It was created by a man named Stan Lee (you may say, Stanley who? No, that's his name, Stan...Lee). It's a fictional shared universe where many superheroes and supervillains exist. It began in comic books and over the last decade or two they have created movies to go along with these stories. Even if you don't follow Marvel, you're probably familiar with characters like Spiderman, Captain America, the Incredible Hulk, and maybe even Iron Man. There's something interesting Marvel does to keep you interested in their movies. When you go see a movie, typically there's a last scene and the credits begin to roll. Everyone leaves. No one pays attention to all those names except the mother of ''Lighting Engineer Number Three.'' But at a Marvel Movie, no one leaves. Everyone stays in their seats. Why? Believe me, it's not because they're interested in the credits. It's because they know the movie isn't completely over. They know something else is coming. There's always a secret scene after the credits that tells you what's coming next. Faithful fans know, when the movie is over, it's not really over. This is not the end...there is more to come.*
If this was a movie, it's over when the hero dies. But this is not the end. There's an extra scene. You have to wait a little while. One day. Another day. A third day. But then, the sun breaks over the horizon at dawn and the tomb looks a bit different. Instead of the giant stone covering the opening of the tomb just as the soldiers placed it, it's been rolled away. And there are angels around the open tomb.
Jesus died on a Friday. Just a few days later, on Sunday, Mary and Peter and John were at the tomb. ...
