John 20:1-9
On December 17, 1903 Orville and Wilbur Wright made history.
Their motorized vehicle defied the law of gravity and flew through the air. The idea wasn't new. Years before mathematicians and scientists had proven that flight was possible. But many people couldn't believe that flying would ever become a reality. The Wright brothers believed the facts and mathematical formulas
and they built the first flying machine.
Different people can look at the same event but draw different conclusions because of what they believe or expect to happen or don't expect to happen based on their experience and knowledge.
To look is one thing;
to see what you look at is another;
To understand what you see is a third;
To learn from what you understand is still something else.
Mary Magdalene, Peter and John each have a different reaction
to seeing that the tomb is empty early on that Sunday morning.

Now on the first day of the week - which was Sunday because the Jews rested on Saturday the seventh day of the week because that was when God rested after six days of creating the world.
Years later Christians choose to worship on Sunday to remember the resurrection of Jesus Christ because it is the very foundation
of our faith. We gather together to worship on Sunday because
we celebrate his resurrection and victory over death which was
the curse of sin upon mankind.
Mary Magdalene - had been delivered from seven demons by Jesus and as a result she was one of the women who helped to provide for the needs of Jesus and his disciples (Luke 8:2-3).
She had continued to be devoted to Jesus and was at the cross when he was crucified (19:25) along with other women.
She got up early and came to the tomb before daylight which would have been about 6 am. She came as early as she could because she wanted to finish preparing Jesus body for burial.
