Easter Message
Over the last several weeks, we've been looking at the major pillars of the Gospel story under the heading: The Big Picture...That word ''Big'' speaks of the scope of the Gospel... and the word ''Picture'' speaks of the hope of the Gospel!
I'm not talking about a ''hope-so'' kind of hope; I'm talking about a ''know-so'' kind of hope. Does anybody here have a KNOW-SO kind of HOPE today?
The ''hope'' I'm talking about can be explained in the 8 words recorded in [Matthew 28.6] -these are the words spoken by an angel to Mary Magdalene and Mary-the mother of Jesus as they approached the tomb on that first Easter Sunday: The angel said... ''HE IS NOT HERE. FOR HE IS RISEN.''
There's NO GREATER TRUTH... than the RESURRECTION TRUTH... of our LORD and SAVIOR: JESUS CHRIST! ''HE IS NOT HERE. FOR HE IS RISEN!'' [applause]
The Devil hates Easter weekend. Now, he's okay with the bunny and the eggs... but the Devil hates everything about the empty tomb. He hates it because the resurrection of Jesus guarantees his defeat... and it guarantees our deliverance. That's why he's been deceiving people about it since that first Easter Sunday.
It shouldn't surprise us that... as Christians around the world gather this weekend... celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ... that the American Atheists are hosting their 52ND National Convention... expecting 1000 in attendance. This year's convention is being held in Atlanta, GA beginning Friday and concluding Sunday!
What we're making much of today, they are mocking! You know why? Because the devil hates the Easter story... He hates the fact that Jesus is alive!
I heard a story a while back... about a teacher that was known for teaching her class of young children about her views as an atheist. Well, after several months of this teacher indoctrinating her class on her atheistic views... one day, ...
