I want us to jump ahead of where we have been the past couple of weeks looking at Elijah and move to his mentee, Elisha.

I want us to look at some of 2 Kings 3 today
A look into the lives of 2 Kingdoms
Northern Kingdome, which was Israel - King, was Joram, Ahab Son
South Kingdome, which was Judea - King was Jehoshaphat

Joram was a terrible king.
Jehoshaphat was a gullible king.

Moab was a Kingdome in conflict with Israel and King Joram (from the North) wanted to destroy Moab.

That is where we pick up in this story, and we will read it through verse 20 today.

2 Kings 3:
3 Joram son of Ahab (The King during Elijah's day who he just dominated on Mt Carmel) became king over Israel in Samaria during the eighteenth year of Judah's King Jehoshaphat, and he reigned twelve years. 2 He did what was evil in the Lord's sight, but not like his father and mother, for he removed the sacred pillar of Baal his father had made. 3 Nevertheless, Joram (Israel King) clung to the sins that Jeroboam son of Nebat had caused Israel to commit. He did not turn away from them.

Can we pause and let me teach you Bible: The Sin of Jeroboam:

It began with the Age of the Judges, when Israel was led by local judges.

This led to the 120-year period of the United Kingdom, when the 12 tribes were united together under a secession of monarchs (Saul, David, and Solomon).

Then Jeroboam leads the tearing of the northern tribes away from the southern tribes.

Now God gave him the blessing to do this, but Jeroboam quickly led the northern tribes into great sin and apostasy.

Now Jeroboam's sins are spoken about in no uncertain terms.

During Jeroboam's life, it was prophesied that God would abandon Israel, ''because of the sins of Jeroboam, who sinned and who made Israel sin.'' (1 Kings 14:16)
