ILLUS. - Tools of the trade - If you were going to do some work in the yard today there are some tools you’d need to get the yard like you want it. Same if you were going to remodel a room at your house. You are going to need the tools to do so. If you were going to remodel your life. Do some resetting, some re-prioritizing ... if you want to see change ... you’d need the right TOOLS. More specifically ... the Bible ... God’s Word ... is the one thing ... that can bring the most change in your life. - If you want to prioritize, adjust values, work on yourself, grow ... you need God’s Word active and present in your life. Because God has spoken to us through His Word we can know God, know His will, know the truth about life, our sin, His salvation. We can know how to live life as its intended ... we can know and pursue God’s best ... because God has spoken. If the only real resolution any of us made in 2022 was to be more committed to God’s Word... and then we lived that out... it would radically transform our lives. - It’s not that our circumstances would change ... WE would change. Today we are going to talk about God’s Word. Let’s reset our approach to it... and let’s make sure any reset is with the Word. - As a church... this book is what guides us. - It should be what guides your life. - Believers in Jesus should be people of the book. I want to look at today what may be the most famous verse in the Bible about God’s Word. Ps. 119:105 - Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Psalm 119 is like a love letter to God’s Word. It’s the longest chapter in the Bible. It is divided into 22 sections each beginning with a letter to the Hebrew alphabet. Each section contains 8 verses each beginning with that letter. The writer loved the law of God, the instruction of God, the word of God, His commands.
