Glory to His Name!

Ephesians 3:20-21
Although I was not raised Baptist, for a very brief time when I was a little boy, we attended a small Baptist church. I was a bit intrigued because every Sunday we sang about ''creatures.'' The movie, ''The Creature from the Black Lagoon'' was still popular so I was enthralled by this particular song we sang each week.
The song declared that ''all creatures here below'' should praise God along with all the heavenly hosts above. And in that country church, we sang it every week as the ushers brought the offering back to place on the Lord's Supper table. It was called, ''The Doxology.''
That well-loved song received its title from a Greek word in today's text. It's the word ''doxa'' and it's translated here as ''glory.'' And whether we are singing a great hymn or a modern worship song, or frankly, even if we are not singing at all, we should make sure that everything we do is about giving glory to His name!
Ephesians 3:20-21 - ''Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever, amen.''
John MacArthur says this is one of the richest and most significant of all the passages of the Word of God. And I think he is right.
Now, grammatically, the focus of these two verses is on 4 simple words, ''...to Him...be glory...'' Everything else in this text is just modifying those primary word, ''To Him be glory.'' And in these two verses, I find three truths that will help us give glory to the name of the Lord.
1. The Salvation on Our Minds (Now to Him who is able)
The theology and doxology are wide, deep, and high. I mean it's packed in tight, it's drilled down deep, and it's stacked up high in this verse. But it doesn't get any deeper, higher, or tighter than these first 6 little words...NOW TO HIM WHO IS ABLE.
And these 6 words connect us to th ...
