We love to overcomplicate things, don't we? We tend to get lost in the minutia... and the details... and the questions... when really, sometimes the best thing we can do... is back up... and look at the big picture.
Today we're beginning a brand-new sermon series that I'm calling ''The BIG Picture,'' and that's exactly what we're going to do. Over the next several weeks, we're going to look at the major pillars of the gospel story from a birds-eye-view...
Let me go ahead and share with you the titles of these messages so you can see where we're headed:
Creation: God made it
The Fall: We broke it
Redemption: Jesus fixed it
Culmination: God makes all things new

I heard a story a while back that I believe will kick this message off in the right way. The story goes like this:
A pilot... Lebron James... A Scientist... the President of the United States... and a Boy Scout... were all in an airplane together, and the plane was flying through stormy conditions. (and yes, this is true story... haha!)
As they were flying, suddenly, the pilot came running back to the passengers and announced that the plane had been struck by lightning and they were going to crash within minutes. ''There are only 4 parachutes,'' he announced, ''...and since I am the pilot, I get one!'' After saying this, the pilot grabbed a parachute and jumped out of the plane.
At that point, Lebron James stood up and said, ''I'm the world's greatest athlete, and this world needs great athletes, so I too must live.'' Lebron grabbed the second parachute and jumped out of the plane.
The Scientist grabbed the third parachute and said, ''I'm the smartest man in the world, and the world needs the smartest man in the world... so I too must live!'' ...and then he jumped out of the plane.
At this point, the President looked at the Boy Scout and said, ''Son, I've ...
