Hebrews 12:1-3
''Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.'' Hebrews 12:1-3 (NIV)
''Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith....''
Hebrews 12:2a (NIV)
''As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.'' Proverbs 27:17 (NIV)
''Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don't try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way.''
James 1:2-4 (MSG)
''In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to His own advantage; rather, He made Himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death- even death on a cross!'' Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)
''... Oh, why didn't I do what they told me? Why did I reject a disciplined life?'''
Proverbs 5:12 (MSG)
''Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don't think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.''
