INTRODUCTION: [ILLUSTRATION]> Two men were traveling together on an airplane. One was taking a nap and the other was busy working on a crossword puzzle. He nudged his napping friend and asked, ‘‘What is a word with 3 letters, with the letter O in the middle, meaning, man’s best friend?’’ His friend mumbled, ‘‘Dog.’’ But ‘‘dog’’ didn’t fit.
He worked at the puzzle a little longer and then said, ‘‘The last letter is D.’’ Even with the 2 letters ‘OD’ in a 3-letter word describing man’s best friend, they never did think of the first letter as being G.

The [23rd Psalm] has been our source for finding answers for these tough days we are having to face. As we come to the final words and verse of this Psalm, we end where we began, with the Lord.

From his opening words to his closing thoughts, David has shared his secret of how we can face all the days of our lives. He has given us more than a manual of ‘‘How To’s’’. He has given us more than a list of ‘‘Do’s and Don’t’s.’’ His philosophy has not been, ‘‘grin and bear it’’. He doesn’t suggest that we ‘‘just tie a knot in the rope and hang on.’’ His advice wasn’t, ‘‘Do the best you can.’’ He has given us several secrets to facing all the days of our life, and they all find their source in a 3-letter word that means, man’s best friend. You spell that word G-O-D!

As David closes his Psalm, he gives us a glimpse of something much better; because when a life begins with God, and then ends with God, the outcome is far greater than anyone can comprehend.

We have heard the expressions; ‘‘He saved the best for last’’ or ‘‘The Best is yet to come.’’ When we think about our lives and how that we have been changed by God’s Amazing Grace...about all that He has done for us in meeting our needs...about the many times that He has helped us through impossible situations...about the joy that He h ...
