Introduction: Multitudes of religious books on the market about church growth; not all of them get to the basic question. Programs/personnel/ and those are important. So how do you get to be a church that serves and glorifies God and makes an impact on the lost world?

The first fellowship had proper content. That led to proper character. That led to proper consequences. Church/studying church/ fellowshipping church/ praying church.
II. THE PROPER CHARACTER (V. 43)
1. An awesome church (K.J. - fear) (reverence)
1) Reverances God Aweness of the presence of God
"Every soul kept feeling a sense of awe." Things that could only be explained by the work of God. The world watched with open mouths!
2) Glorifies God!
Luke 7:11: Widow of Nain. "And there came a fear upon all and they glorified God."
We ask ourselves a question. What does the community think of us?
2. A miraculous church. (v. 43b)
"Many wonders and signs were done by the apostles."
1) Healing the sick
A. The Lame Man (Acts 3:6-10)
ILL. The church can no longer say, "Silver and gold have I none." And they can no longer say, "Rise up and walk."
B. The sick people (Acts 5:12-16)
C. The paralyzed man (Acts 9:32-35) Miracles were to point men to Christ!
2) Raising the Dead - Tabitha - Acts 9:36-43
Miracles always had a purpose! Jesus said, "Believe on me for the works that I do! Apostles to perform miracles to confirm the word of God and their ministry.

Hebrews 2:3, "How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that received Him. God also bearing them witness both with signs and wonders and divers' miracles and gifts of the Holy Ghost according to His own will. '1
