The Kingmaker

Daniel 2:1-44
This message is designed to strengthen the faith of believers during times of national and international chaos by exalting Christ as the Sovereign Ruler over the affairs of both men and of nations.
If you are not familiar with the phrase, ‘‘Kingmaker,’’ then you should be. It is used to refer to someone who is sort of an unseen power behind the throne. In politics of any kind, from the PTA to the US government, a kingmaker is someone who works behind the scenes to put others in places of power.
You may not see them. But they are always there. You may not know it. But they made it happen.
In the face of the international upheavals of his day, Daniel seems to give that kind of description to our God. So, I will give that title to our Lord today. We love to sing about how the Lord is a WAYMAKER. But He is also a KINGMAKER.
In fact, He is not just A kingmaker. He is THE kingmaker. No king ever sat on any throne without a Divine appointment from the Sovereign Potentate of Heaven, The Kingmaker.
My message will cover almost all of Daniel 2. In the interest of time, I will incorporate the narrative into the sermon itself. But let’s look at verses 20 and 21 to set the stage for this message.
Daniel 2:20-21 - ‘‘Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are His: And He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings and sets up kings.’’
The condition of our world is a real backdrop for today’s truth. On the national and international level, we are in chaos. The Russian invasion of the Ukraine is only the most recent example of international conflict. And the pain we feel at the gas pump scarcely compares to the humanitarian crisis in the Ukraine.
So, how are the people of God to respond? Well, our response should not be based on opinion or party. Our response should be based on the Bible. And a Biblical response will be the same anywhere in the world and at any time in history. A Bib ...
