Introduction



1. Of all the rights that you have in the United States, one of the best-known rights is automatic citizenship which is given to everyone born within our borders. That hasn’t always been the rule of the land, but the 14th Amendment was passed in part to make sure it was the law of the land, so here in the United States you can obtain your citizenship at birth either through just being born on the United States soil or being born to parents who are United States citizens. 2. The benefits of being a United States citizen are tremendous. You and your children cannot be deported (under most circumstances.) You can work in the Federal Government, you have the freedom to travel without basically any restrictions, and when you are abroad you can seek the protection of U.S. Embassies and Consulates. You have the right to vote. You will earn on average between 50-70% more than non-citizens. In fact, someone has calculated that the monetary value of being an American citizen is at least 2 ½ million dollars and that is based on the median household income being over $56,000 and assuming that you can work here fifty years. That doesn’t include all the other benefits we get from being an American citizen. In other words, your birthright as an American citizen comes with unbelievable benefits and blessings.



3. Can you imagine becoming an American citizen but not realizing all the rights that you are given at that moment and living like you are an illegal foreigner? You may have the blessing of being a citizen, but wouldn’t it be sad to never enjoy the benefits of being a citizen?
