A woman got on a bus holding a baby. The bus driver said: ‘‘That’s the ugliest baby I’ve ever seen.’’ In a huff, the woman slammed her fare into the fare box and took an aisle seat near the rear of the bus.

The man seated next to her sensed that she was agitated and asked her what was wrong.

’’The bus driver insulted me,’’ she fumed.

The man sympathized and said: ‘‘Why, he’s a public servant and shouldn’t say things to insult passengers.’’

’’You’re right,’’ she said. ‘‘I think I’ll go back up there and give him a piece of my mind.’’

’’That’s a good idea,’’ the man said. ‘‘Here, let me hold your monkey.’’



Introduction:



We have come to the final chapter in this great Book called Jonah. God called him to go to the City of Nineveh which would be in modern day Iran, and to preach to them of the judgment of God. Instead of following the plan of God, Jonah goes several thousand miles in the opposite direction towards Tarshish, which is modern day Spain. As they get out into the ocean, God prepares a great hurricane and the boat almost sunk. Finally, Jonah admitted it was his fault, and he told the sailors to throw him overboard and they would be saved. When they did, they were saved, and the storm settled down.



Jonah did not drown, as they would have expected, but he was swallowed by a whale. While in the belly of the whale, he repented and God gave him a second chance to go preach. The Ninevites repented at the preaching of Jonah, and it made Jonah mad! Imagine here is the greatest revival in history, and the preacher who preached it is mad about it! I love to see people come to the Lord, but Jonah was scared the wicked Ninevites would march on Israel, so he was hoping God would destroy them. Here in chapter four, we have a confrontation of God with Jonah, and God get’s his attention again. With ...
