One of the oldest military tactics in the book is to ''divide and conquer.'' It's used today by US military and counterintelligence.

It was used by Humarrabi, the leader of the Mesopotamian Empire. He would regularly cause strife between two neighboring countries. While they fought with one another, he would swoop in and defeat them both.
