We continue a study in the book of I Peter. It is a book written by the Holy Spirit through Peter the Apostle. It was written towards the end of his life around the year AD 63. He is writing to persecuted believers encouraging them to keep their Hope In Jesus.

Response To Hope v. 13

Therefore or so - literally means as a result.

We need to remember what Jesus has done.

The salvation was given to us.

Get your thinking in order

Ready your mind for action

Be sober minded.

Set your compass on God's Grace

When Christ appears Grace will be fully brought to you.

When we see Jesus, His Grace not his judgment will be extended to us.

Holiness God's Way v. 14

Children of Obedience

As children inherit the nature of their parents so we have inherited a Divine
Nature.

It is natural for a Child of God, having a New Nature to obey God.

Key Pt: As children inherit the nature of their parents, so a child of God is made a partaker of the divine nature, which nature always impels to the act of obedience. It is natural for a child of God to obey Him.
Don't Conform, be fashioned

Because we have been called out we should now stand out.

We live differently not to be different but because we are different.

Key Pt: The word ''fashion''1 in the Greek text refers to the act of assuming an outward appearance patterned after some certain thing, an appearance or expression which does not come from and is not representative of one's inmost and true nature. It refers here to the act of a child of God assuming as an outward expression the habits, mannerisms, dress, speech expressions, and behavior of the world out from which God saved him, thus not giving a true expression of what he is, a cleansed, regenerated child of God, but instead, hiding the Lord Jesus who should be seen in the life of the Christian.
