I Peter 2:1-11
We continue a study in the book of I Peter. It is a book written by the Holy Spirit through Peter the Apostle. It was written towards the end of his life around the year AD 63. He is writing to persecuted believers encouraging them to keep their Hope In Jesus.
Text: I Peter 2:1-11
Renamed and Renounce
Wherefore/So
This is again letting us know what has happened.
Since we have been Born Again I Peter 1:23
You have an Everlasting Life because of the Word of God.
Key Pt: We have been renamed from Sinners to Saints because we have been
Born Again. Given a New Nature and New Name.
Renounce/Get Rid of
Remember it is time to take off the costume.
Your life is now different so now it is time to get rid of
Notice what they were dealing with: deceit, hypocrisy, jealousy, and unkind
Speech.
Required Milk v.2-3
Newborn Babies
They naturally want and require milk.
They crave the nourishment and need the nourishment.
Key Pt: Babies naturally get hungry and need the nourishment that comes from
Milk. They are not ready for meat but need the milk.
If a baby is not hungry there is something wrong with the child.
So we are the same
Like babies crave milk so as Spiritual Babies we crave milk.
Spiritual Milk is a reference to God's Word.
God's Word has life, gives life and nourishes life.
Babies need milk not meat.
God's Word is the milk that helps us grow.
