I Peter 2:9-12
We continue a study in the book of I Peter. It is a book written by the Holy Spirit through Peter the Apostle. It was written towards the end of his life around the year AD 63. He is writing to persecuted believers encouraging them to keep their Hope In Jesus.
Text: I Peter 2:9-12
We are Chosen v. 9
God Chooses
This speaks of God's Grace.
He chose us not because of anything in us.
Grace acts upon itself not upon the merit of the one being chosen
Key Pt: Remember the invitation is for all. Some ignore it, others reject it but some
Receive it.
Jesus said that you did not choose him but He chose you. In other words you
Did nothing to warrant the invitation but Jesus did.
Grace is not a concept but a person. His name is Jesus. John 1:17
Grace and truth came by Jesus
We respond
We now respond to the Holy Spirit.
God gives us the call and we now respond to His Spirit.
I believe God has chosen to save the Whole World.
Some respond to the call and others reject the call.
We are Royal Priests and Holy Nation
Peter calls them Priests
Because of the work of Jesus now they have a new position.
In the Old Covenant you had to be Born Into the Priesthood.
It was something only a few could do.
We are Now Royal Priests
Under the New Covenant we are Born Again.
Now we have been Born Again into the Priesthood.
Jesus has now made us Kings and Priests to God.
Our responsibility
Is now we minister to God.
We now have access to God the Father through the Son.
We don't have to offer sacrifices for sin but Sacrifices of Praise.
