INTRO. I know how to become the wealthiest man in the
world! If somehow I could distill and reproduce the
secret formula of FAITH and be able to sell it to
people around the world, I would be rich!
How the cry goes up - day and night, from rich and
poor - How can I go on - where can I find faith. If I
could only believe!
Oh, how strange and in a way pathetic that saint and
sinner alike are searching for faith, when the Bible,
God's Word is replete with example and exhortations of
faith from beginning to end!
Is this not the theme of God's Word, FAITH!
THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY FAITH - WITHOUT FAITH IT IS
IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE GOD!
Every hero, every story that thrills and challenges
our heart is one of faith!
The SINNER must be saved by faith in Christ. Eph. 2:8
"For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not
of yourselves, not of works lest any man should boast
- it is the gift of God."
The CHRISTIAN exists by faith. 1 John 5:4 "Whatsoever
is born of God overcometh the world and this is the
victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
What is this precious substance so sought by saint and
sinner alike? Webster said 'complete confidence' the
fight of faith. Mark 9:22 "If thou can do anything,
help us! Jesus said, What I can do is already
settled, what you can believe is the question!"
I. FAITH INVOLVES TURNING TO GOD AND AWAY FROM
OURSELVES!
God is the giver of victory - every good and perfect
gift.
ILL. of Jericho - walled city of fierce men - no
possible way for rag-tag Israelites to conquer.
