John 16:1-15
OPEN: A woman was taking her mother for a drive, and whenever she went over the speed limit... her mother would give her a hard time. Well. she dismissed her mother's advice; but it wasn't long before a State Trooper pulled her over and gave her a ticket. As the policeman was walking away, the woman complained to her mother that the officer could have at least let her off with a warning. Her mother turned to her said ''Honey, I gave you the warning. He gave you the ticket.'' (Reader's Digest September 1993)
In our text today, Jesus tells us that part of the Spirit's job is to give us a warning! Jesus said ''I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you. And when he comes, he will CONVICT the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment: concerning sin, because they do not believe in me; concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.'' John 16:7-11

The Spirit was sent to convict THE WORLD - to convict the lost. He's come to convince the world of their need for Jesus - their need to be saved!

I was determined to SELL Jesus to anyone who would listen, and I was good at it! I was good at selling Jesus! But then, a few months into my ministry there, I worked fo ...
