CAUTION, LIFE UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Luke 7;24-27

INTRO. This is the NOW generation. New pressures,
but still the same basic question since time began.
Right or wrong, and which will I do - good and best.

Regardless of whether you can see it or not,
communication between parents and children has been a
problem and it will be between you and your children.

ILL. Two teenagers talking, "No wonder Jeanne
gets A's in French. Her parents are Parisians
and they speak French at home." "Well, then I
ought to get and A in geometry then" complained
the other, "my parents are squares and they talk
in circles."

But we have not come to talk of generation gaps, we
are here to talk about you and your life. No use to
paint false pictures, or look through rose-tinted
glasses at this rocking, rolling unhappy world. It's
there in all its sadness and sin, and already you have
your feet wet in it and soon you are going to take the
plunge up to your neck or over your head! Some of you
will swim, but some of you will sink!

God's Word talked often about building our lives and
compared our lives to a building. The Old Testament
talked about plumb lines and measuring rods, walls and
gates, and master planners and builders. Jesus
stressed the importance of good foundations and corner
stones and said all Christians were stones, part of a
great building for God!

David said centuries ago - Psalm 127:1 - "Except the
Lord build the house they labor in vain that build
it!" Please let me be presumptuous enough to ask you
five questions this morning related to the life you
are planning or have under construction.

I. WHAT KIND OF LIFE DO I WANT TO BUILD?

This is the first step to picture in our minds, what
kind of life we want to construct. Most people have
in their minds eye the mate they want to spend life
with and the home they want to live in - an ideal - a
standard.
