I Want to See God Move (5 of 19)
Series: Ezra
Mike Stone
Ezra 2:64-3:7
Part of the series: EZRA
Praising the God Who Rebuilds and Restores
At first, it appears to be a book about rebuilding Jerusalem and the temple. But it's more about God rebuilding a people for the ultimate glory of Jesus.
As we embark on our own building project, I want to use the book of Ezra to keep us focused on this truth. The work of God is never about building a building. It's about building a people for the glory of the Lord Jesus.
I want to see God move in our revival.
I want to see God move in our church.
I want to see God move in our student ministry.
I want to see God move each week in our public invitations.
I want to see God move in my family.
And I want to see God move in my personal life.
There are some people that, I believe, have an imbalanced view on the Sovereignty of God. I believe in the Sovereignty of God, that is, the Biblical truth that God is God and answers to no one and that He does what He pleases. But that should never be confused with fatalism. For one thing that God has Sovereignly chosen to do is to act, at times, in response to the actions of His people. He said:
Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you.
Give and it shall be given to you.
If you forgive others, your Father in heaven will forgive you. If you do not forgive, your Father in heaven will not forgive you.
Ask and it shall be given to you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and the door will be opened unto you.
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.'' (2 Chronicles 7:14)
This section of Scripture reminds us of a great spiritual principle. The work of God is something that GOD does. That's why it's called a ''work of God.'' But it is a work that He typically does through the surrendered and committed work ...
