The founding fathers of our nation were deeper thinker than anyone I have seen or heard today. They wrote into the constitution that the elected leader (Pres) should give an annual ‘‘State of the Nation’’ address. From their influence, I’ve attempted to do that each year. Last year the staff and I read a book together and I handed it to the Deacon body to read with us so that we could see principles at work. The book is entitled, ‘‘Prepare for Rain.’’ (Watch this snippet to understand - FTG) The older man, Mr. Bridges, is played by Ray Woods. Alex and Stephen had to convince Ray to do this part, because in front of the camera is not where he sees himself. But the Kendricks wrote this part and knew Ray was the man to deliver this part. WHY? Because what you saw is literally the epitome of Ray. He walks so close to the Lord that he has little problem with coming to you and saying, ‘‘God told me to tell you this’’ and leaving it in your hands to respond (just like he walked off). We don’t like to own up to it, but that is kind of how the Bible is written. ‘‘Here’s the truth’’ - I’ll give you encouragement to do it, but in the final analysis, YOU MUST MAKE THE DECISION. There are just a few recorded in history that God ‘strongarmed.’ Most times, He gives us His word, and allows us to engage or disengage. To engage is to do His will, HIS WAY - it’s not to do OUR WILL in HIS NAME - and there’s a huge difference. Today, the 1st Sunday of 2022, let’s open our hearts to the truths, look ahead, embrace God’s call to us, and prepare for rain.
