Reaching People/Setting Captives Free (1 of 3)
Series: Heart for the House
Benny Perez
Psalm 126, Acts 2:17
Heart For The House is our new series that we are beginning. In this series we are going to be talking about this house: ChurchLV. We will be covering what we are about and the values associated with our mission.
My prayer is that we all develop a Heart For God's House and Particularly this House called ChurchLV.
Text: Psalm 126, Acts 2:17
Background: Isaiah's writings to the children of Israel came at a bleak period of their history. They are in Babylonian captivity, they have lost everything they thought they would keep forever, and they were home sick for the land and the blessing God had promised them.
The Power Of Captivity.
Captivity - to be taken away, to be drawn into.
It is more powerful than slavery. Because when you are a slave you do
Adopt the ways of the culture. You try and escape and do all to preserve
Your way of life. You detest what they are trying to do to you.
Babylonian Captivity - it is adopting the ways and thinking of Babylon.
The power of Babylon is in the way it thinks. It is not domination
By sheer power, but by changing the mindset of a people.
Key Pt: As Followers of Jesus are not slaves to sin anymore. But we are battling the spirit of this age. The mindset of what is now
Normal. It is the spirit of Babylon.
There is the Spirit of God
He earnestly desires for us to conform to the Image of Christ.
He is leading and guiding us into all Truth.
He is the Spirit of Truth sent from the Father.
There is the Spirit of this Age
There is a system that is working to control.
There is a spirit that tries to pull you and suck you into a way of
Thinking and believing.
There is an anti-Christ Spirit that is coming against us.
A spirit that does not want to submit to Spiritual Authority.
The enemy does want you to break free from captivity.
As long as you're a captive ...
