FISHERS OF MEN or
THE CALLS OF A SOUL WINNER!

Luke 5:1-11

INTRO. In this story the clear call of God to be
fishers of men - Jesus drawing from the practical to
demonstrate what he was saying. (1) You can catch
nothing on your own. (2) God will lead and direct us
when we listen. (3) Perhaps the greatest lesson put
forth is persistence. Keep on, try again, go once
more. Let down the net one more time. But this
morning we are dealing with Motivation. The call that
was able to reach the heart of these rough men and
plunge them into the thrill of personal evangelism!
That of witnessing - Soul winning call it what you
will, it is simply taking opportunities available to
confront people with what God has done for you and
what His Word says He can do for the through Christ
Jesus.

I wish I could speak long about the urgent need for it
- Like Praying and Reading the Bible, its something
not limited by academic training. Few preach - all
can witness.

I. A CALL FROM ABOVE

1. Jesus said it - You shall catch men - we can
have no doubt but that this is the will of God
for every Christian. Jesus pioneered the way. He
left heaven to be the sinbearer for a lost world.
He practiced it all of His earthly life, along
the woods and paths of this world -

To the fallen woman at the well
To an outcast tax collector named Levi
To a blind beggar named Bartamas

This call comes from the heart of a loving Lord
who while we were yet sinners loved us! Romans
5:7-8
