As we begin 2018 I believe God is calling us to build up people on the right foundation. In order to build the right way you must have the Proper View of Jesus and Yourself. The enemy works hard to distort your view of Who Jesus Is And Who You Really Are. From the very beginning of time the enemy distorted who God was and then has distorted humanity in who they are.

Matthew 16:13-20 NLT

I. Jesus Comes To Caesarea Philippi

A. Jesus comes to C.P

1. This was a city and culture that embraced a plurality of beliefs.

2. There were many different religions and belief systems represented.

B. It had become a strong hold of Baal Worship.

1. There were 2 themes to Baal. He was both the Sun God and Storm God.

2. He was worshipped as a sun god when the people wished to express thanks
And gratitude for light and warmth and fertility.

3. Worship of Baal as storm god took place to appease the destructive nature
Of Baal, demonstrated by drought and storms that devastated the vegetation
Of the worshippers.

4. Baal had to be appeased and many times it was by human sacrifice.

Key Pt: Jesus places himself right in the middle of the plurality of thought and
Asks a question about himself. Jesus identity was not built on what men
Thought but on what the Father Thought.

Too many of us build our lives on what people think about us. What does the
Latest poll say about us!!

Jesus did not build His life on the opinions of people but rather on His Heavenly
Father. Build on the opinion of the one who never changes. God the Father is not
Taking a popularity poll regarding you!!
