Luke 11:1-13

INTRO. Having taught the disciples the "Lord's
prayer" Jesus continued with this -
White: suggests this may have been an experience
(childhood) of our Lord. (Sent by His mother to
secure loaves.)

Whether it was or not - It is a lesson on the art of
Intercessory prayer.

Three persons involved:

I. THE PERSON SPOKEN TO

1. The man with his children in bed - It's an
Eastern Picture.
2. The door barred
Question: of Atheist concerning persistent
asking of God
Answer: God does not want us to pray
persistently -
He is not a "slot machine" God - to be
Organized to wash at our command.

ILL. Anglican Minister concerned with
spontaneous prayer "Isn't it strain on
personality?" Reply - Prayer is not a prayer if
apart from personality.

We must remember - this is a "How much more'
parable. If this sour, tempered, sleepy-headed
father gets up and gives
How much more will our Heavenly Father?

II. THE PERSON WHO KNOCKS - Who is he? "I am that
man as I knock and ask God for three loaves to feed
the people I'm to stand before on Sunday AM. Who is
the man?

A Jr. teacher asking God for guidance in getting
a message to those days -
A mother asking grace to teach a daughter how to
live - etc.
