THE VALUE OF A VIRTUOUS WOMAN

Proverbs 31:10-32

INTRO. Many scriptures in the OT and NT are written
in a very interesting form, a literary form called an
acrostic. That is true of our 22 verses read this
morning. Each verse begins with a letter from the
Hebrew alphabet.

The Lord had the writer of this scripture outline the
truths presented here so we might even memorize them.
These verses tell us of the value of a virtuous woman.
They speak of a wife, a mother, a servant of God, a
minister in her own home.

ILL. "No man is poor that has a good and godly
Mother." Abraham Lincoln

There is a lifetime of study and application of a
perfect wife and mother from every angle. A man
looking for God's best for him, a woman seeking
direction for her character development, for those of
us who come from a divided or broken home. This is a
model.

I. HER LIFE Verse 10 - Virtuous = of force

1. She is powerful (Septugent, "Who can find a
woman of force." (A woman of many strengths.)

ILL. Satan has set out to destroy the home, and
one of his tactics is to confuse the roles of
husband, wife, parent/children, etc. There are
those who would say mistake. The principle of
submission to say a woman should be submissive
to her husband even if it is clearly unscriptural
and ungodly sin. Women are to be weak/passive.
These 22 verses will convince you that God's
women will be a leader, a woman of force -
strengths.

ILL. It is not too difficult for a weak person
to submit! But remember, Jesus was strong, a
leader of leaders, yet He submitted Himself to
the cross of Calvary. That was strength under
control.

1) A woman with a personality - vs. 25-26a
Her life is not bland and colorless. She
has spirit that is under God's control.

2) A woman worth pursuing! "Who can
find?"
