John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

''Hi this is Mark at the tech center what seems to be the problem with your computer sir? I can't get my computer to work! OK sir, is it plugged in? No! OK go ahead and plug it in!''

I know this is a ridiculous scenario, but we can get unplugged from Jesus. We can allow the circumstances of our life to cause our computer to not work right, but there's a technician on the other end of the phone who's name is the Holy Spirit. He will teach you to follow the scripted manual to bring life back to your computer again

Abide, remain, continue.

So, let's put it this way: In order to be shoulder to shoulder, on mission, leading people to come alive in Jesus, we must first be face to face with Jesus personally, becoming alive in Him.

Once we have been made right with God through what Jesus did for us on the cross, we have peace, we have hope, we have joy within ourselves, we have been secured in His love for us. Then we are ready to bring peace, to make peace, to reconcile and be reconciled. We will have hope to give others because we ourselves have Christ in us, the hope of glory. We will have the love of God in our hearts by the Holy Spirit and then able to love others with the same love we have been shown.

Jesus gave the Great Commandment before He gave the Great Commission.

The Great Commandment is to LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE.
The Great Commission is to GO INTO THE WORLD AND TELL THEM ABOUT JESUS.
