INTRO. So many people find themselves married to an
unbeliever. One of the greatest challenges to a
pastor comes from dealing with a wife who loves her
husband very much but who is lost. They are
"Unequally yoked." (2 Cor. 6:14) "Do not be unequally
yoked with unbelievers . . " (read)

DEFINING YOUR SITUATION
"Unequally yoked" - OT Bible said in Leviticus, "Don't
yoke together certain kinds of animals through
breeding. Keep species clean/pure. Yokes - enemies
came to Israel and yoked them with bondage when
Israelites were defeated. Social/political
oppression. Yokes of bondage. Ecc. says young men
don't want to learn and wear the yoke of obedience.

NT word is used for a marriage relationship.

Now what is a yoke? Two loops through which the head
of oxen fitted so they could pull together. But if
one got too far ahead or lagged behind they would
choke, goaded so it was imperative that they learn to
work together. They had to learn to walk and work
together so no one got choked or goaded. If you are
unequally yoked, one is not pulling their share of the
load.

ILL. Why is it wrong to be unequally yoked for a
believer? Follower of Christ to be married to an
unbeliever?

I. WHY IS TI WORNG TO BE UNEQUALLY YOKED?

1. A Christian is reborn and unbeliever or OT
blood of Jesus Christ and set apart for service,
ministry to be conformed to the image of God. To
be joined to an unbeliever, a non-God person, it
is holiness and unholiness yoked together. You
have a problem. Don't do it!

2. How do we get unequally yoked?
1) Two unbelievers get married and one
gets saved.

ILL. Before, when they both were not
Christians neither cared for the things of
God. Little conflict about spiritual
things. But when one becomes a Christian,
values change. The tug of God pull ...
