1 Kings 18:17-40
ILLUS. - We love BIG MOMENTS don't we? - People pay premium prices at boxing matches, Super Bowls, etc. ... hoping to see a big moment. - Sometimes big moments are big letdowns. - Super Bowls can be blowouts for instance. - But we like to be amazed, wowed ... blown away. - 1 Kings 18 is the BIG MOMENT of Elijah's ministry. It's the story we remember Him for.

God will show that He is God... and only He is worthy to be worshipped. - This is the Super Bowl of 1 Kings. The Championship match. - But as we will see... there is only one champion. Spiritually we must choose... will we serve God... or idols or self. What will be the center of our life? What will we worship? - In a sense, we must make this choice every day.
We must decide are we going to live our lives in alignment with God's truth... or lies. Are we going to treat God as God... or give something or someone else the honor He is due? THIS is the question every person must answer. - We can give our worship to God... or idols.
Rom. 1:21-25 - For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
