Hebrews 11:3,6

Let's go to the Lord in prayer: "Lord, we seek thank
thee that we can come to thee by faith and we know
that when we seek you that by faith we find you
because you are there. We believe and trust in you.
I pray that this morning that our faith might be
strengthened, that it might be lengthened, and Father,
that we might grow in our commitment to you. For we
pray in Jesus name."

Now FAITH of course, is one of the most important
substances in all the world. As a matter of fact, the
writer of Hebrews says that "without faith it is
impossible to please God." You can't know God, you
can't experience God, you cannot please God if you
don't have faith. And if you don't please God it
doesn't matter who you please. But if you please God
it doesn't matter whom you displease. And our real
purpose in life is to glorify God and to please Him
and to walk with Him.

The way to walk with Him and to please Him is to live
every day by faith. Jesus said, "According to your
faith be it unto you." He didn't say according to
your FAME be it unto you; He didn't say according to
your FORTUNE or FINANCES be it unto you. He didn't
say according to your FAMILY be it unto you, be He
said, "According to your FAITH be it unto you."

I. REALITY OF FAITH:
By faith we receive things from God. By our trust in
Him we receive our faith in Him. There are several
things about faith that we need to understand. Faith
is substance. Verse 1 says, "Faith is the substance
of things hoped for." Or the confidence --
realization of things hoped for. Faith is confidence
in the hope that is in Jesus Christ. But the thing I
want to zero in on for a moment is that -

1. Faith is SUBSTANCE.
Some people have the idea that faith is not real, that
it is our own imagination, that it is the power of
positive thinking or that it is just a "I hope, I
hope, I hope" kind of thing, of c ...
