We all like appointments don't we - especially at the doctor's office and places like that. Just kidding. We don't schedule too many appointments that really excite us. For instance, I don't know anyone who gets excited about an appointment with the IRS.

How about in the spiritual realm? Now this is a totally different thing. What's really nice is to have someone to schedule our appointments for us and then keep up with them. Sometimes a secretary can do this. Sometimes a wife or a husband can do this. In the spiritual realm we have someone who will make divine appointments for us and then make sure we get there on time.

God set a divine appointment for Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch. The Lord knew a man needed to be saved and He wanted to use Philip to reach him. Divine appointments are special events. Scheduling events to talk to others about Christ aren't that hard - we just have to let the Lord make them for us.

The Lord won't schedule divine appointments for just anyone. He did for Philip but will He for us? Notice what we learn about divine appointments from this text.

GOD SCHEDULED THIS DIVINE APPOINTMENT BECAUSE PHILIP'S LIFE BELONGED TO HIM
26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, ''Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.'' This is desert.

Philip, one of the original Spirit filled deacons, left off serving tables and began preaching God's Word. From that point forward the Holy Spirit was making divine appointments for him - first in Samaria and then with the Ethiopian eunuch. Before the Lord would do this all of Philip had to belong to the Lord.

The Holy Spirit doesn't speak to just anyone. Sometimes we wonder why the Lord doesn't break through - meet with us - speak to us - give us a plan. We have to realize that He always wants to but sometimes can't because we won't let Him. When we close off ou ...
