*Find Exodus 32 in your Bibles. We are studying the Old Testament book of Exodus on Sunday mornings. And I know, just as I said, Exodus 32, some of you began to stress out a little bit. You're thinking, ''Wait a second, we were in Exodus 23-24 last week. The pastor has skipped almost ten chapters! Listen, there's a LOT in chapters 25-31 that we will look at later, in conjunction with chapters 35-40. So I'm saving that sermon for the end of our series. For now, just have a little faith and follow along with me as we walk through this book together.*
Last week, we left Moses on the mountain. He was on top of Mt. Sinai meeting with the Lord to receive instructions about how the people of Israel are to live, worship God, and obey His rules. He's up on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights receiving specific instructions about the tabernacle, the priesthood, the Ten Commandments, and more.
In chapter 32, it's time for Moses to come down the mountain; what he discovered infuriated him. One of the last things that happened before he went up the mountain was this, ''All that the Lord has spoken, we will do and we will be obedient.'' (ON SCREEN) I told you, they were big fat liars. *Maybe you heard the news...just this week the Atlanta Braves won the World Series! In six games, they defeated the Houston Astros and now they are world champions. It's still a little bit surreal, almost unbelievable. I've been a tortured sports fan for almost my entire life, except 1995 when they actually won as well. Other than that, it's been the story of close calls, near misses, and big-time disappointment. Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled about the win.
