We, as human beings... have a tendency to make plans for the future. Anybody made any plans lately? We were wired to think about the future and set goals for the future. But the truth is... none of us are promised tomorrow.
[James 4:13-14] says, 13 Come now, you who say, ''Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.'' 14 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring-what your life will be! For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes.
In this verse, God describes our life as a vapor... and yet, if we're being honest:
Most of us feel exempt from that verse.
We live like we're invincible and immortal, and like nothing will ever happen to us.
But the truth is... life as we know it can change in an instant.
About a week before Christmas, our family walked through a scary incident - one minute our kids were leaving the house for school and everything in life was normal and fine... But 5 minutes later the phone rang and the voice on the other end of the line was letting us know that our two kids had been involved in a major head on collision.
Now, we can praise God today because everyone involved in that accident was miraculously okay... but as a parent, that was one of those moments where you realize how fragile life really is... and how quickly things can change.
What are we going to do with this life? And here's why I'm asking that... If life is truly short and our tomorrows truly aren't guaranteed... then we ought to live every single second, intentionally fulfilling our God-given purpose on the earth.
100 million years from today... What will be the one thing that really matters? Will it matter how much money you made, how successful you were, or how many followers you had on Tik Tok? Will it matter what kind of car you drove, what kind of home you ...
