Acts 2:40-47
There are living churches and there are dead churches. Most everyone I know would rather be associated with a living church. Perhaps it doesn't matter to some people, but to most it does. The question is, ''do we even know what a living church looks like?'' Most think they do but then discover they don't.
If this is the case we'll have to let the Bible itself define what is and what isn't a living church. Then the rest will be up to us. If we truly want our church to be a living church, with God's help, we'll be the ones to make it happen.
A LIVING CHURCH HAS A HEART FOR CHRIST
41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand
souls were added to them.
When the people heard Peter and others preaching the Word they were cut to the heart. They came under the conviction of the Holy Spirit to do something about their situation and then surrendered their lives to Jesus.
I know it sounds odd to tell Baptists that they need to be saved - born again - but we all know there are church members all across this land who have never been saved. Are you one? You could take a giant step this morning toward making this church a living church by giving your life to Christ and then living like a believer.
If our members are not saved we cannot have a living church.
