Jesus Is the Reason for the Season

Luke 2:25-35

I believe that in order to do anything effectively; you need to have a legitimate reason or purpose for doing it. For example:

You wake up in the morning because you have to go to work to earn a living;

You buy/rent a home because you need somewhere to live;

You buy/lease a car because you need transportation;

You buy clothes because you need something to wear on your body;

You buy food because you need something to eat;

You buy insurance just in case something happens or goes wrong;

You go to church in an effort to know Christ and His salvation;

You get baptized because Jesus died for your sins and you want to be obedient to Him;

You then attend church because of that salvation;

You join a ministry because something inside tells you that serving the Lord is your purpose.

We do everything for a reason and with a purpose.

Is not about fighting in lines in the stores, but rather ''peace earth, good will towards men.''

Is not about a man by the name of Santa Claus, but rather The Man who was born and died for the cause, Jesus Christ.

Is not about us going to bed early, but rather about Him going to the cross for the sins of the world.

Is not about us waking up to presents under the Christmas tree, but rather waking up to the reality that Jesus is the real Present. God initiated this Christmas season and we have evidence of the giving attitude in John 3:16 which reads, ''For God so loved the world, that He GAVE His only begotten son; that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish but have everlasting life.''

For just a little while, ...
