Do you know what it's like to be in bondage to something? You have something that has a grip on you and you're not sure how to get out from under it. It might be a bad habit; it might be a bad attitude; it might even be a person that has got you in their grip and refuses to let you go. It is the nature of man to deny what's holding him down or is keeping him in bondage and will do whatever is necessary to get around it or keep it under wraps so nobody else knows what it is.

What is ''freedom? Freedom defined is ''The condition of being free from restraints.'' Even though we have this freedom, I've found that many are still in bondage! Our society is plagued by people who have been made to be dependent upon others for the bare necessities of life that they need. We can look around and see what's going on in our world and realize that God has a better way! It was not His intent for us to look to the world to ensure our needs are met, but rather to look to Him for that requirement. We must stop relying on the ability of others and their broken promises and begin to rely on God and His Word. When we grasp the magnificence and magnitude of His Word and the power of it, we're able to walk in the freedom and liberty that only the Lord can guarantee and make possible. Today, ''Jesus Can Make You Free.''

Here in our text, Jesus is continuing His discourse with the Jews and has just recently told them that it is the truth that will make them free. Too many times, when we hear or even quote that verse, we often times say, ''the truth shall set you free'' when actually it states that the ''truth will make you free.'' To set free means there's the possibility of being put back in bondage, but to be made free means you are free and you have been given all the tools necessary to remain free.
