God Is a Covenant Keeper

Judges 2:1-5

It's good to deal with people who keep their word. Because of the agreement or arrangement that's been made, you begin to do likewise and make plans accordingly. For example, when someone tells you they will come by to pick you up to take you to a very important meeting or to a doctor's appointment, you prepare yourself for their arrival. If they don't show up, disappointment sets in and you may even get upset because they didn't show up. However, if they do show up, you're able to accomplish what needs to be done. It makes things easy when people keep their word. A person's word is their bond and if they break their word, people have the tendency to stop relying on them. I'm glad that God is a Promise Keeper, a Word Keeper, and a Covenant Keeper. That which He's promised to do will come to pass. If He said it, that settles it and it's going to happen. God is a Covenant Keeper.

The judge was the leader of the people, both the military and civil leader. When God raised up a person become the judge (or sopet), that person became the savior, deliverer, and liberator from some oppressor. Then after delivering God's people from their oppressors, the judge usually became the civil leader.''
