Find Your Place, Get In Your Place, and Stay In Your Place!
Dr. Darrow Perkins
2 Chronicles 26:16-21
There's something to be said about being where you ought to be rather than where you feel you've just got to be. Lives have been destroyed because of what people wanted to do instead of what they needed to do. In too many instances, trouble has shown up in the lives of people because they were in the wrong place. Crimes take place and people are accused of doing those crimes and one of the things that comes out of it is ''somebody being in the wrong place at the wrong time.''
When we come to the understanding that for every choice we make there is a corresponding consequence, it should help us to realize that in order for us to be successful in life, we must make the right choices. These choices include all areas and facets of life because all of them help to shape who we are and our eventual outcome. People are wandering around our communities with no direction, no guidance, and no clue as to where their place is. They've been told that they will never fit into what we call ''society'' and find themselves living a life out of place. The same is true with our spiritual lives as well.
If we're not careful, we can get so consumed with what's going on that we won't focus on who it is that has put it all together!
If we're not careful, life with provide us with so many distractions that we begin to think that's really where we're supposed to be.
If we're not careful, we'll get caught up in the day-to-day dealings of life and not even begin to think who it is that has given us the life that we have.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 11:28, ''Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.'' His declaration to us is to get in place with Him and He will give us all that we need, not only in this life, but also in the life to come. We must, ''Find our Place; Get in our Place; and Stay in our Place!''
