Don't Put Limits on God!
Dr. Darrow Perkins
John 5:10-16
Because we are natural, material, and physical beings, we have the tendency to put limit on things, people, and sometimes even God. I make this statement because we tend to rely more heavily on our natural abilities and senses and sometimes, all the time actually, that gets in the way of our being able to see the awesome power of Almighty God. The Bible never tells us to ''walk by sight'' yet that's how we do it most times. We look around, see our situations, see our circumstances, see our problems, and immediately assume that we cannot get them resolved or even tell ourselves, ''well, that's just my lot in life.'' Your lot in life is not to accept failure or defeat because that's not who God made you to be. Romans 8:37 says, ''Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.'' The reason He didn't make you like that is because He is not like that. Let's keep in mind that when God made us, He said He would do so in His image and after His likeness. Therefore, there is no failure or defeat in God!!
Now concerning limits, by definition it means, ''A boundary or bound; to restrict by or as if by establishing limits; to confine or keep within limits.'' We can establish limits by not believing in God's ability to do what He says He can do or by relying on our own power to make things happen in our lives. The Bible teaches us that God is Omnipotent which means He has all the power and authority to do whatever He wills or desires to do. God's power is confirmed for us in Jeremiah 32:17 where the prophet says, ''Ah Lord God! Behold, thou has made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.'' He further writes in verse 27, ''Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?'' Having an understanding of God's awesome power and authority, it does us no good to try to put limits on God an ...
