In this day and age we're living in, deception has become the norm rather than the exception. Too many times we ask or question things or people because we may feel like they are trying to get over on us or take advantage of us. We feel that way because some people have done that in the past and we want to guard ourselves against anyone else doing it to us in the future. Sometimes we can just look at somebody and say something like, ''What's he or she up to?'' or ''They've never spoken to me before in the past, why are they being so nice to me now?'' or ''Why are they fishing me for information, are they planning my downfall?'' These questions might be a bit extreme, but the reality is that they are valid questions when the devil is up to something in your life. The reason we know he's always up to something is because of his mission statement. Jesus tells us what that is in John 10:10a which reads, ''The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy;'' This tells us, and actually warns us, of the fact that the devil will use whatever tactic or device he has available to him to trick, deceive, or even destroy us, given the opportunity.

What is a deception or what does it mean to be deceived? The word deceive is defined as ''to cause to believe what is not true; to mislead.'' The devil has been in the misleading or misrepresentation business for a long time and he's still at it today. The Scriptures teach us in Ecclesiastes 1:9 that ''there is no new thing under the sun'' and this tells us that the devil's devices and deceptions are not new, it's just new to us because we've not experienced them before. But, we can rejoice because the Word of God lets us know in advance what the devil will try to do to us before he even brings it our way. The devil is going to try to deceive us, but we have to be ready what he brings our way. Let's talk about Dealing With the Devil' ...
