Are You Willing to Do God's Will?
Dr. Darrow Perkins
John 4:31-38
Everybody has choices and decisions to make on a daily basis. Everything we do is based on a decision. We decide what to wear in the morning; we decide what we're going to do at work; after work, and in the evenings. We decide on what we're going to eat and how we're going to conduct our everyday business. Whatever it is we do, it's based on a decision. Because decisions are made tells me that we have choices and options that requires a decision. This also applies to our working in ministry and doing the work that God is requiring of all of us. We all have work to do for the kingdom of God but it will require us to make the decision to do that work.
Concerning the will of God, most people don't know or understand the overall will of God as it pertains to mankind. We must come to grips with the understanding that what God is requiring of us is not just something on a small scale, but rather, God wants us to be kingdom builders on a large scale. We're told in 2 Peter 3:9, ''The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.'' His overall will is that nobody perish or be destroyed as a result of sin and iniquity, but that all would come to repentance and receive the rewards of that choice or decision.
We have a choice to make...to do what we want to do or to decide to do what God wants done. I don't know about you, but I've found that when I do things the way God wants them done, they always work out right! So, the question today is, ''Are You Willing To Do God's Will?''
We find ourselves in the Book of John. Knowing that John took great pains and strides to show the deity of Christ helps us to understand His reason for coming and the power and authority He holds. As we look in Chapter 4, we see that Jesus is having a dialogue with the Samaritan woman. One ...
