We established on last time that the well was a place of need and refreshing. All of us have needs in our lives that we want to get taken care of, and we find that God is the One who is able to take care of all needs in our lives. Even when we look to other people, other places, and other things, we can't get our needs completely taken care of until we find ourselves in the presence of Almighty God. The Apostle Paul declares for us in Philippians 4:19, ''But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.'' When God makes a promise, He always keeps it.

He promised never to destroy the world again by water and left a rainbow as evidence of His promise;

He promised to get the children of Israel to the promised-land, and He kept that promise;

He promised to provide mankind with a savior, and He kept that promise by sending His only begotten Son to die for the world.

God knows the needs of His people and has the power to supply or make sure those needs are taken care of. We have to rely on God, His power, and have faith in God's ability to know that our needs can be taken care of by Him. Jesus showed us that He understood needs by making sure He made it to the well to take care of the needs of a Samaritan woman. According to John 4:4, He went out of His way to get to this woman and deal with her needs. This is significant because, according to the Preacher's Outline and Sermon Bible, ''Samaritan were mongrel or half-Jews, a mixed breed by religion.'' He went beyond ethnic boundaries, society dictates, and the perceived notions of people to take care of her situation. We're told in the Scriptures that Jesus is ''the same yesterday, today, and forevermore'' and that being the case, He's ready to take care of our needs today.
