Galatians 2:19-3:14
Introduction
Well, hey, welcome to Mission Hills. So good to have you with us this weekend. We're in the midst of a series called Live Free where we're exploring what the book of Galatians in the Bible has to teach us about experiencing freedom as followers of Jesus.
And I feel like we probably ought to acknowledge that religion may not seem like a natural road to freedom. After all, the Old Testament portion of the Bible, on which both the Jewish and Christian religions are founded, has 613 laws...and they run the gamut from don't murder to don't boil a baby goat in its mother's milk. And I should say, we're not going to completely answer that question today, but we are going to get a really important, foundational, part of the answer today. So why don't you go ahead and grab a Bible and start making your way to Galatians 2:19?
So Paul has been telling us why he had to publicly challenge Peter, one of the Jewish Christian leaders of the church in the 1st century. And it was because Peter had previously been willing to publicly associate with Gentile - or non-Jewish - Christians... but when some Jewish Christians started to put pressure on him, Peter succumbed to hypocrisy an ...
